I had three shows in NYC planned last week but wound up skipping the Holy Fuck/Les Savy Fav show on Sunday. Still, there was the Insound Pre-Siren party and, of course, Siren!

I would have taken a few shots of Man Man's set, but I was low on film. Man Man were incredible, though. I'd heard some songs before and thought they were fun, but you don't really understand what kind of band Man Man is until you see them live, running into each other, throwing bells at saucepans, bashing their keyboards and screaming, you suddenly realize that they've found the thin line between two year olds and utter geniuses.

I bought a Nintendo DS Lite last week, along with Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time, Electroplankton, Brain Age, and Mario Kart DS. I love it all so much. This is the first time I've bought a "new" video game system (meaning it was still in production at the time I bought it) since the clunky grey Game Boy I bought back in 1994.

Here's Cecilia utterly filling Brian's glass to the brim with orangade the last night I hung out with them in Sarasota. It was funny because Brian hated that orangade and the moment he went to the bathroom we scrambled to fill his glass and get back to our seats so it looked like we hadn't moved. It was an obvious and meek feat, but goddamn was it fun.

Here's a shot I love from the Asobi Seksu Citrus release party. The strobe light was going nuts and Yuki and James were playing like wild beasts, that's why it looks like there are four or five Yuki's behind the keyboard and James has three guitars.

so this coming weekend is Siren, and for the first time ever, it looks like i'm going to spend all my time at the Stillwell Stage. just looks who's playing the "lesser" of the two stages:

i'll be a little miffed about missing Main Stagers Celebration (against Dirty on Purpose), Tapes n Tapes (against Serena Maneesh) and Scissor Sisters (against Stars) but Stillwell definitely winds out with me, especially since i'm fucking sick of She Wants Revenge.

also, in preparation, this Thursday evening, 8pm, at Supreme Trading in Brooklyn, is Insound's 3rd annual pre-Siren party, with Oh No! Oh My!, The Big Sleep, and Professor Murder. admission is $5, or only $2 if you wear shorts! radical!
